Izmir Subway Project
Success Stories
Known as IZBAN, the Izmir Suburban train system which runs from Aliağa to Cumaovası is the biggest suburban train system
connected to an airport in Turkey. It is an incorporated company owned equally by Izmir Municipality and TCDD. The railway is 96 km and runs from ALİAĞA-MENEMEN-ALSANCAK ( north ) and ALSANCAK-CUMAOVASI (south) axis with 31 train stations along the way. The
system is expected to have a daily passenger count of 550 thousand.
The system has so far only been part-implemented and will be in use at full capacity in October.
Our company Netwell LTD is successfully managing the product procurement and system comissioning of the Announcement
and Communication systems in this huge project.
For the announcement system Honeywell AV digital products - which have been used for a number of succesfull projects worldwide- have been selected. The system is completement IP based and all stations are connected to each other through the pre-existing data network. The IP system allows all 96 km of rail to be monitored and managed using a simple mouse from graphical screens at the headquarters. With the high-tech announcement system the headquarters can make announcements at any station and also inter-station communication can take place through the system. It will also be possible to announce the current location of trains on travelling on the tracks.
The communication system for IZBAN utilizes LG-NORTEL's latest technology IP switchboard. Like the announcement system
the switchboard also works over the local network. While one station works as a system centre, the other stations have been given system modules. In this way a single switchboard is able to be used in all stations over the 96km. Management and reporting is
undertaken at a single location. All communications are recorded at a single location. IP, analog and digital telephones can all be used on the switchboard.
